If you have done your research, you will know all about the savings on both cost and efficiency LED lighting can save your business. With up to 80% energy savings per bulb, plug and play direct replacement bulbs and a much greater cost effectiveness than high pressure sodium or metal halide bulbs, LED lighting can make vast improvements to your company. However, these improvements won’t mean anything if the light they provide isn’t also up to standard. So why then do some LED light bulbs seem too bright?
The Wrong Wattage
It’s important to remember that how we measure industrial lighting is not the same as we might do at home. While many domestic households are also seeing the benefit they can save by transitioning to LED lighting, many are still using energy inefficient incandescent bulbs. For industrial purposes, it is more important to measure the amount of lumens produced.
If we have a bulb which gives off around 1800 lumens, an incandescent will need 100 W. For a high intensity discharge bulb, it will need to use 30 W, but an LED will only need to use 20 W. If we are not aware of how much light is given off, then we might buy the wrong type of bulb thinking we need a greater wattage than we actually do.

Wrong Type of Bulb
Wattage is one thing, but your LED lights might seem too bright if you use the wrong type of bulb for your purposes. We have a range of LED light bulbs which can be used for industrial purposes, sports complexes or office and interior use. You need to choose the right one for your needs.
For example, with refrigeration, you will need to fill the long units with an evenly spread light. Our T8 replacement bulbs are perfect for this purpose with an equal distribution of light. However, if you were to put a vertical fixture in a unit, this would mean parts would appear too bright and others too dim.
Another aspect of the wrong type of bulb is being inconsiderate of larger spaces. If you have a high-bay space for industrial interiors, we have something like the OEO 1K ULTRA SERIESwhich can be used to fill up these spaces correctly. With lens angles and specially designed distribution, it will provide the right light for this space. If you put this bulb in a lower level setting, it is going to shine too brightly for your purposes.
Not Making the Most of LED Versatility
High intensity discharge lampsneed time to light up. This is for the arc to light and affect the metal compounds present in the bulb, eventually reaching a desired intensity. With LED, you will have full luminosity in less than a second.
This ability means you can put individual bulbs on timers, control them by Wi-Fi and put dimmer switches on fixtures. Not only are many of our LED lights dimmer compatible, they won’t wear out like HIDs can with such fluctuation charge going through the bulb. If your LED light bulb seems too bright, you can make the right adjustment either manually or through a computer operating system.
The final reason your LED light bulb might seem too bright is because you are simply surprised by the quality. With improved color temperature options when compared to HIDs, making the change to LED lighting might only make your space seem brighter. In reality, it is just that the lighting is better.
